‘Light Field XVI’ is a canvas explore a still core in a mobile meeting of light and darkness. The multiple layers of zinc white with additions of violet and green give the appearance of a surface of water. the the subtle meeting of horizontal and vertical elements give the sense of depth this painting evokes.
This ongoing series is created as a response to the insistently complex, colourful paintings that I am generally engaged with making. The simple translucent whites mixing with the more complex violets and green goldst developed as a calming process. If painting were thinking this is a moment of ‘peace of mind’. And I find it rather beautiful.
This painting was made with a silicone painting blades, bespoke acrylic squeegees and fluid and heavy body acrylic paints.
